kico storefront: Juice

Meg Moore dreamt to bring the sophistication and quirky garments of the big city to the south. This ‘Playful, Multifarious, and Vibrant’ store as Meg, owner of Juice describes it, is working on its’ fifth year representing high quality brands such as kicokids in a town called Hartsville, South Carolina. With fall/winter on the shelves, Meg gives us a tour of Juice and answers some questions.

 

What type of products do you sell? Clothing, shoes and accessories skillfully crafted by amazing boutique designers from all over the globe…offering sizes 0-16. We are about to launch our “tween” section Soda Pop…exciting times!!

How would you describe the city you’re located? Uber-Cozy: It’s an oxymoron…full of vigor but it’s still like coming home.   Like a good ‘ole pair of broken in Fryes… in essence a Modern Day Mayfield…The Cleavers meet the Jones…

Do you have in store events? Yes!  Wine and cheese after hours shopping, crafts with kids, crafts with the Elves and wish lists with Santa to name a few…

What is your favorite kicokids item this season? Hmm, well that is hard. I love each and every design from Tia. She is a true artisan. If I had to choose, I would have to say the tulle tutu dress…it is modern, yet feminine; a vintage, raw, uber chic beauty.

What inspired your set up and the product you carry? My love of children and fashion, the two most important things in life. What else is there?  Ha, seriously, children are all about texture and the movement of the clothing, the way it feels on the playground or sitting in a high chair or at a school desk. They want to be stylish, but they also want to be comfortable.  The designers we select posses both of those qualities…fashion and comfort conscious; a good mix!

My setup, well for sure I love antiquarian…exposed brick walls mixed with old antique iron beds and doors as display pieces. I love putting modern anomalous touches, using sleek concrete for the countertops mixed with shiny tin for the check-out counter, sleek glass tiles against 200 year old brick. It just works and makes my store unique but also inviting.  You are not cold in my store; all warm and fuzzy!!!!   We guarantee that feeling!

What do you look for when getting product for your store? The “fabulous” factor…equates to passion + artistry = fabulous. Some designers I would say go into the business half heartedly, putting half into the product because they are so worried about the bottom line. Kicokids dives in each and every season without reservations.

Is there anything you wished you could get in your size?  I would wear any kico piece. Well maybe not the cut out t-shirts…but the dancer leggings, I would totally ROCK those!!!!!
